Veronika & Kelly came to me with the most stunning mood board for their wedding. I looked forward to creating their cake for ages and was so excited when the date finally came. Their wedding was at The Fenwick in Balmain and was styled by the amazing Oxytocin Floral. I mean LOOK at those flowers. The wedding was also photographed by an amazing photographer Tien Chia Photography creating images that are exactly what I see with my eyes and wish I could capture.

They really loved my previous cake for Bridget & Hugo so I worked on pressing florals that would match their bold styling. I grow and press all the flowers myself so saved up during the growing season to be able to use these on their cake.

The cake was a double height so they were able to choose two flavours. The went with half double chocolate and half coconut cake with salted caramel. The outside was finished in silky smooth vegan Swiss meringue buttercream so the delicate pressed flowers could stick on easily. We had pressed marigolds, roses, dianthus, and violets.

Each side of the cake highlights different flowers and the movement of the blooms over the extra tall tier. The top edge of the vegan Swiss meringue buttercream was left unfinished and rough to allow some of the blooms to “fly away”, creating a really soft, ethereal look, as if the wind was gently blowing. I loved this understated use of the pressed flowers and how the cake looked next to the bold and lush Oxytocin Floral arrangements.

The entire room was stunning with customised ceramic gifts for each guests, set with hand made calligraphy place cards.

I absolutely loved working on this wedding cake and felt really lucky to be able to walk into the room with the carefully curated space by Oxytocin Floral. I wanted to immerse myself in all the bold and unique flowers, colourful and textural.

Soaliha & Mitch got married at The Conca D’Oro in Riverwood in a grand ballroom venue. The room was lush with flowers and decadently decorated with metallics and bold colour.

The cake we discussed incorporated the jewel toned seasonal florals, but with a gentle understated finish, a semi-naked cake. This helped to express their desire for something relaxed, but also matching the boldness of the room.

The jewel toned blooms included cymbidium orchids, bright red dahlias & roses, and pastel pink blossoms. Everything was sourced at the Flower Room.

Erin & Merryn 18th June 2022

I can’t believe it’s taken me a year and a half to post about Erin & Merryn’s wedding. Wow. Time slips by. I was honoured to make a cake for two of my lovely friends. Their wedding was magical, non traditional and so so so beautiful. It took place at a private venue in the Hunter Valley.

When we met up to chat about their cake they wanted something low key, relaxed and full of native florals to reflect their venue. Erin is vegan, many guests were gluten free, and Merryn’s mum has a cocoa allergy. We were so happy to be able to supply a cake that was not only beautiful and delicious, but met every guests requirements.

Beautiful family style table arrangements.

The cake sat amongst the long tables, fitting right in with a native floral posy.

The room was set with long family style tables and catered by Vegan Weddings and Events. Tenille creates the most delicious and epic vegan feasts with share plates for mains so you can have a little bit of everything. I had the pleasure of attending this wedding and I just cannot stop thinking about the food, even after all this time. It’s so so so delicious.
