WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY WEDDING CAKE?
If your wedding is less than 9 months away, and you have some of the main styling elements in place, we can begin to discuss your cake. Most clients come in around three to six months before wedding. Some weeks can book out far in advance, however, less notice is required in winter months.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF ORDERING A CAKE?
We recommend that you make an initial enquiry by email, providing your event date, delivery location, serving size (coffee or dessert) and design ideas so we can give you a rough price quote. We can book you in for a consultation and tasting or we are happy to work via email. To confirm your order, a 50% deposit is payable, with the balance being due two weeks before the event.
For events other than weddings we often work by phone and email to finalise a design and quote.
HOW MUCH WILL MY CAKE COST?
Pricing depends on serving numbers and the complexity of details chosen. Each cake is priced individually and we have a minimum order of $150. Most of our wedding clients choose designs costing between $400-$800 for two tiers and $600-$1000 for three tiers, including GST and delivery. Approximate prices can be given by email if date and serving numbers are provided, and full quotes are provided after all details and size are discussed. Cakes requiring extensive alterations in baking such as gluten free, soy free, and nut free do not incur additional charges. The more expensive products are built into our overall pricing so no one “pays the price” for their dietary needs.
Yes please! We are more than happy to provide samples of some of our most popular cake flavour combinations. These are subject to what is baking any given week, but normally coconut cake with salted caramel ganache, vanilla cake with dark chocolate ganache, red velvet cake with raspberry ganache and chocolate cake with peanut butter ganache are available. Other popular filling flavours at the moment are strawberry, passionfruit, vanilla and lemon. All flavours can be made gluten free as well. Just ask us if you have any questions!
WILL YOU COPY THIS CAKE FOR ME?
You are welcome to bring in photos of cakes from other designers as part of an inspiration board, however we do not create copies of other designers work just as we would hope they wouldn't create copies of ours. Making cakes is a way for me to express my art and creativity. I love the opportunity to work on unique and cutting edge designs.
DO YOU OFFER GLUTEN, SOY, NUT AND DAIRY FREE OPTIONS?
Yes! We believe that you can have a delicious tasting cake no matter what your dietary requirements. We also strongly feel that all cake should be flavoursome and fresh. We take the time to fully layer, lightly syrup and mask the cake before icing, and then ice in very very thin fondant. We do not charge extra for gluten free as we don’t feel people should have to pay more for their dietary needs.
Semi-Frosted and Naked cakes are also available. We bake and assemble them as close to your event date as possible.
We can create buttercream style cakes, but prefer to work with ganache as it doesn't require refrigeration. I don’t know about you, but this really provides us with peace of mind during an event!
